Law Enforcement Analysis on ASGM in Peru
To support the preparation of the NAP, the Artisanal Gold Council (AGC) is developing a national analysis of the ASGM sector. This includes defining a baseline inventory of mercury use and mining practices. AGC will also set targets and strategies to eliminate worst practices and facilitate the formalization of the sector.
Based on the NAP and the analysis done by AGC, the Peruvian Government will enact laws and policies to reduce the effects of mercury in health and the environment.
